The flood refugees return home……

Hi everyone, good to see that the rain has finally gone away……Hope you’ve all survived the big wet here in NSW / SE Qld.   Well Anthony has had a busy weekend, the Crusty Demons show was awesome, he and Vicki got to Brisbane and got to see the worlds best freestyle motocross riders do their insane tricks and show off their amazing abilities.   Unfortunately Crusty legend Seth Enslow was unable to perform do to a massive crash he had earlier in the day on his Harley.  He landed hard (virtually missed the ramp) and then smacked the tank with his head and was unconscious before he hit the wall……He did make an appearance but was unable to perform (having only been released from hospital several hours earlier)

Here’s an example of the famous Crusty Trick Train…..

Anthony and Vicki were unable to return home sunday due to the floods, but thankfully they got back yesterday….after a few extra days away in Kingscliff and Ballina.   Anthony and I got to head out on the road today (with no rain and lots of sun) to get to work, and due to having to catch a boat back yesterday, I got to go out for a ride with both Anthony and Vicki which was great fun in the afternoon.

Coming up this week for bike race fans is the famous Isle of Man TT race….it’s amazing watching these guys going over jumps in the road at 150 mph on sport bikes…..they travel around the 37 1/4 mile track at ridiculous speeds and show no fear!  Also this year for the first time is the Time Trials Extreme GP for electric bikes….these insane battery powered creations will travel the Isle at massive speeds in the worlds first Zero carbon clean emissions GP.

So that’s it for the week so far…..the road to Maclean is now open so we can get to work tomorrow.  Looking forward to the ride in the morning.  Have a great week everyone, stay safe, keep the rubber side down and have fun.

Cheers, Derbi.

This weeks winner of Derbi’s Celebrity Pillion Passenger is once again a repeat visitor – and she is our favourite.    She is Anthony’s personal photographer (mine too!)….she loves gear (Anthony loves when she talks about the Canon 16-35mm 2.8 lens – Ooooh Baby!) and she looks amazing in a pair of Draggins.

On top of all that, in July, she and Anthony will be celebrating their wedding!!  She’s the one and only and an incredibly talented photographer,  she is the beautiful and completely adorable Vicki James.

Countdown to Brisbane begins…..

Firstly a happy Mothers Day to all the mums out there, hope you had a great day.

And a special message goes out to someone else today………You may think you are the “winner”, but only in your mind..Dood!

Hope it’s been a great weekend for everyone….its Sunday and I’m ready for another week of commuting.  Tomorrow we have the longer ride to Grafton which is always good fun, (even though its cold and bug infested).  Anthony hasn’t tested the new gloves on the long ride, but I’m sure they will perform perfectly.   I’m all clean and ready to go.

I’m also excited about our next fun ride, not sure where we’ll be off to, but there are a few rides around here that I’m looking forward to exploring.

On the days when we work here in town, Anthony parks me right in front of the office door….(its only a small place) and I get quite a few looks from people who are thinking…”what is that…is it a scooter, is it a motorbike?”  which is cool.

Last week we saw lots of bikes pass by….notable ones were the white Ducati 848 and the red Ducati monster…..Yes I know Anthony was supposed to be working so how could he spot the bikes…..but the main road is right in front of us, and he can hear the sound of a Ducati coming from a distance, so looking out the door once he hears the sound of one approaching isn’t hard.

In a few weeks Anthony & Vicki are off to see bikes of a different kind as they heading up to Brisbane to see the Crusty Demons “Beyond the Apocalypse” show in Brisbane.    After being a fan of these guys for years, Anthony (and Vicki) are excited to go see them…particularly to see Australia’s own Cam Sinclair perform the Double Backflip.   He is one of only three people in the world to pull off this trick…the first being the one and only Travis Pastrana.

Here’s Travis showing why he’s one of the worlds most insane stunt riders…

So that’s it from me this week….hope you all have a good one, looking forward to more stories again soon.

cheers,  Derbi.

For this weeks winner(s) of Derbi’s Celebrity Pillion Passenger of the Week, I decided that since we were talking about the Crusty Demons, perhaps it was appropriate to feature a shot of some of the other stars of the Beyond The Apocalypse show….The Crusty Babes.

Are we there yet……?

It’s a phrase that’s heard by parents all over the world on long  car trips……but yesterday it was something that Anthony was thinking when he wasn’t sure if we would have enough fuel to get home from work.

When we left Grafton (and rode out of town past all the petrol stations), Anthony initially thought we would have enough fuel, but then a few kms out of town, the fuel gauge started flashing, indicating we were about to dip into the reserve tank…..and in theory we could have had enough to get us all the way back, but it was getting dark, was possibly going to rain…..and basically the idea of being stuck on the side of the road and having to push me to a servo wasn’t making Anthony feel much joy.

So what did we do?    First we turned off the counter for the reserve tank (so we didn’t have to see the Km’s ticking away in front of us), and then we kept riding, and were hoping we would make it to the servo on the highway about 24 km from home….which we did, and when we were done filling up, we ended up getting 9.69 litres (out of a possible 11)

We most likely would have been right to go all the way, but for the last 10 km it rained, and it was dark, and the decision to stop was a good one.

Another good decision that Anthony recently made was to get some new gloves.  He has been complaining over the last few weeks about his frozen and/or wet hands due to gloves that were unable to keep the weather out for longer than about 5-10 minutes.

So he purchased a pair of Dri-Rider Nordic Pro gloves.   And his hands are very happy, and warm, and dry……and the left glove has one of those cool rubber wiper blades to wipe water off your visor.

As Borat would say…..”Very Nice!”

This week’s winner of Derbi’s Celebrity Pillion Passenger of The Week was born in San Diego, California.  She started modeling at 15, after being spotted by a model agency owner while buying coffee at a 7-Eleven.   Two years later she moved to New York, then LA and then moved all over the world.

Her coffee habit led to another show business connection when she was approached by an agent to see if she was interested in acting.  Since then, she has starred in “The Grudge 2” and also “Disturbia” – a film that made $117 million worldwide and gave her the break she needed.   She is Sarah Roemer.
