So what are you going to call your Derbi?

With the upcoming Derbi GP1-250 release date approaching, I was asking Anthony yesterday if he had picked out a name for his new toy, but at this stage he hasn’t chosen a name for her……

So I asked if I could help out with the process……If I was a European sports scooter, what would I like to be called ??

Then I thought, why not ask my blog readers for suggestions……..

The 2 criteria for selection would be:

– The name would have to be a girls name,

– The name would have to evoke style and sophistication (it doesn’t necessarily have to be a European influenced name, or even one that suggests the scooters’ Spanish origin, but those factors could be used)

So there you have it people…….if anyone has any suggestions, let me know…….

Hopefully the rain will go away today, I’m itching to get out for a ride. This saturday Anthony & I will be spending the day at the outside assembly area of Tweed River High School as he does his licence upgrade test….so it’s good luck to Anthony for that one!

And so today’s winner of Monaco’s Celebrity Pillion Passenger of the Week….doesn’t actually come from Spain. She originates from Brazil, but her native language is Portuguese….and Portugal is south of Spain…..so according to Monaco logic, that’s close enough! In 2007, she earned $33 Million. She was born in the Brazilian town of Tres de Maio, and her parents were a bank clerk and university teacher and writer.

During her early life she wanted to be a professional volleyball player, but took up modelling at the age of 13. Since then she has graced the covers of almost 500 magazines throughout the world including Elle, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Time and Marie Claire….and is the international face of more than 20 brands.

In 2006, she signed another multi-million dollar deal with Apple and starred in their advertising campaign to promote the new Mac computers (starring Justin “Hello I’m a Mac” Long).

She has her own line of footwear created by Grendene and her custom thongs selling for up to $230 a pair (….that one is for you Vicki…) and in 2007 she decided to end her association with Victoria’s Secret – because she wanted to move on, not because they didn’t pay her enough!!

She was born in 1980, has green eyes and according to Wikipedia, she weighs 59kg!! She is the richest supermodel in the world, with an estimated net worth of $150 Million….she is Giselle Bundchen.

Well what a decision, it’s like naming a baby. It has to be a name that you can yell (while riding up hills) and not sound weird, and it needs to be a name that doesn’t rhyme with too many rude words. Hmmm……why not Derbi? Could be a boy or a girls name, so scooterboy and scootergirl will both be happy and Vicki won’t get jelous. I like it, I like it alot.

Tania, well done for being so quick again……but I’m not sure that “Derbi” has much style….(unlike “Monaco”, which suggests sophistication considering its named after the European playground of the rich and famous…)

But it was a good effort for your first go….two gold stars!!!

Just lucky or maybe because I am soooo special. Hey I thought of a new name, what about ‘Vicster’. Then when Vicki isn’t with you you can still take ‘her’ for a ride!!!!!

Perhaps it could be “Belleza Negra” which is Spanish for Black Beauty…..(yes i know that’s the name of a horse, but it might work) …..anyway, I guess there is still time to think about it until it arrives.
